Sina S. Amiri | CEO, Amiri Strategies
Prior to working exclusively in the dental industry, Sina was responsible for maximizing financial performance through contract management, sales operations and customer care quality initiatives at Nightingale Informatix Corporation (acquired by TELUS Health). Before joining Nightingale, he was the Manager of Business Development at Medworxx Inc. (acquired by Aptean, Inc.) and the Marketing Manager at a privately held healthcare IT company. Sina has participated in trade missions to Washington, DC and Philadelphia, PA along with Canadian business leaders. He worked with General Motors and Deloitte before entering the high-tech sector. Sina is a graduate of business leadership and executive development programs at Cornell, Schulich School of Business (York University) and Queen’s School of Business (Queen's University). He has lectured at The Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Toronto and has delivered over a hundred Continuing Education (CE) accredited seminars to healthcare providers including thousands of dentists and veterinarians, teaching them proven strategies for minimizing occupancy expenses while maximizing practice value through a properly negotiated commercial lease agreement. Sina has also provided strategic advisory services to the senior management teams and the boards of directors of several non-profit organizations and charities in North America.
Zain Abiddin | Advisor, Amiri Strategies
Zain is a technology entrepreneur and product strategist who has worked in over 30 countries. He founded a San Francisco-based software and web development services company at the age of 20, partnering with venture-backed startups to rapidly bring new products to market. Zain was previously stationed in Dubai, UAE where he worked as a product manager at TribalScale, a leading digital innovation firm. During his time at TribalScale, he was responsible for the Emirates.com redesign, A/B testing and global roll-out. Emirates is the world’s fourth largest airline. Zain is the developer behind the mobile app that won the 2015 BMW HackTheDrive Best Use of ZenDrive Technologies Award. He has hosted product management talks at the offices of Spotify ($13B+ digital music streaming company), Betaworks (media startup studio), Noom (mobile health coaching), Weebly ($500MM+ web hosting company), Redfin ($500MM+ online real estate company) and ustwo (digital product studio). Zain completed his post-graduate training in Interactive Multimedia at the Sheridan Institute of Technology where he has been a guest lecturer.
Qasim Naqvi | Advisor, Amiri Strategies
Qasim Naqvi is the Founder & CEO of New York-based Startupbnb, a web-based platform enabling digital nomads, entrepreneurs, businesses and their employees to easily find and reserve the most suitable co-living or co-working spaces around the world. In addition to Startupbnb, he is a product specialist at Everyday Health, Inc., responsible for driving innovation into the heart of healthcare. Qasim began his career as a dentist practicing in multiple offices and transitioned into various product management roles after realizing the disruptive power of innovations happening within the technology sector. He has built several mobile applications including one which tracked actual patient arrival times (the same way Uber physically tracks your driver’s location on a map) to alleviate the lost productivity stemming from patients being late for their dental appointments and practices not knowing how they should reallocate clinical resources. Qasim had previously held the position of Product Manager at SJR, a subsidiary of WPP plc, the British multinational advertising and public relations company with 2016 revenues of £14.4B. In addition to his dental degree, he has completed immersive product management training at General Assembly.
Richard Phillips | CEO, Crossroads Capital
Richard Phillips serves as CEO of Crossroads Capital and leads a team of experienced financial analysts, research assistants and directors bringing the organization’s tailored solutions to middle market companies including those operating within the dental industry. He is a seasoned dealmaker and accomplished financial analyst with over 20 years of corporate finance, investment banking and management consulting experience. During his investment banking and corporate development career, he has completed over 27 M&A and other strategic transactions valued at over $6.3 billion, across several industry sectors and geographic regions. These transactions have ranged in size from $500K to $4.3B in value. His work has ranged from early-stage companies looking to accelerate growth through private placement to mature companies looking to recalibrate as they evolve through divestiture, joint-venue or acquisition. Over the past several years, Technology, Healthcare, BioTech, GovCon, Manufacturing and Defense sectors have been areas of particular focus. Richard received his MS in Applied Economics from John Hopkins University and his BA from Lafayette College. He currently holds Series 7, 63, 79 & 82 FINRA licenses.
Richard Phillips | Managing Director, Crossroads Capital
Paul Marin is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Crossroads Capital. Paul is a creative and entrepreneurial problem-solver that brings a multi- disciplinary background including market research, strategy, and M&A in both domestic and international contexts. His expertise includes researching markets and companies, evaluating financials, financial modeling of investments, mergers, and acquisitions, prioritizing investment opportunities, and presenting insights and recommendations to senior executives and acquisition prospects. He has consulted clients in the energy, chemicals, healthcare, and government contracting industries. At Crossroads Capital, Paul assists clients in formulating acquisition strategy, establishing a technology transfer plan, and leads tech transfer engagements. Paul received his BA in International Affairs from The George Washington University.
